Choosing a Disney Resort is about so much more than finding a place to sleep. When you're traveling with babies, toddlers, or young children, the right resort can make your vacation smoother, more relaxing, and even more magical!
From transportation to pools and larger-than-life Disney theming, every resort offers something different. Here are my favorite Disney Resorts for families with young children, and why they stand out.
🎨 Disney's Art of Animation Resort
Best for: Toddlers and Preschoolers
If your little ones love Disney movies, it's hard to beat Art of Animation.
The resort is filled with giant characters from The Lion King, Cars, Finding Nemo, and The Little Mermaid. Walking around the resort almost feels like stepping into the movies themselves.
Why families love it:
✔️ Incredible Disney theming
✔️ The largest resort pool at Walt Disney World
✔️ Family Suites that sleep up to six guests
✔️ Access to the Disney Skyliner
Even if you aren't staying in a Family Suite, simply exploring the resort is part of the fun.
đźš Disney's Pop Century Resort
Best Value Resort for Families
Pop Century offers many of the same transportation benefits as Art of Animation but at a more budget-friendly price. While the theming celebrates different decades instead of Disney characters, kids still love the oversized toys and colorful atmosphere.
Why it's a great choice:
✔️ Excellent value
✔️ Disney Skyliner transportation
✔️ Fun pools
✔️ Great food court
✔️ Easy access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios
For many families, Pop Century offers one of the best values on Disney property.
🌴 Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort
Best Moderate Resort for Young Families
If you're ready for a step up in amenities but don't want Deluxe pricing, Caribbean Beach is one of my favorite recommendations. The resort is spread out, but it has beautiful beaches, pirate-themed play areas, and one of the main Skyliner hubs.
Why parents love it:
✔️ Skyliner access
✔️ Multiple pools and splash areas
✔️ Relaxing atmosphere
✔️ More spacious rooms than many Value Resorts
Being able to quickly hop on the Skyliner with a stroller is a huge advantage.
🚢 Disney's Yacht Club Resort
Best Pool for Kids
If your family loves swimming, Yacht Club deserves a serious look. Its shared pool complex, Stormalong Bay, is considered by many to be the best pool at Walt Disney World. Kids love the sandy-bottom pool, lazy river, and waterslide.
Additional perks:
✔️ Walking distance to EPCOT
✔️ Boat transportation to Hollywood Studios
✔️ Spacious rooms
✔️ Great dining nearby
🦒 Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
Best Unique Experience
Imagine waking up, opening your curtains, and seeing giraffes or zebras outside your balcony. Animal Kingdom Lodge offers an unforgettable experience that's especially exciting for young children.
Why families love it:
✔️ Savannah-view rooms
✔️ Animal viewing throughout the resort
✔️ Kid-friendly activities
✔️ Incredible African-inspired theming
Even on your resort days, there's plenty to explore.
What Should Families Prioritize?
When helping families choose a Disney Resort, I usually encourage them to think about these questions:
Transportation
How important is easy transportation with a stroller?
The Skyliner can make traveling to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios much easier for families with little ones.
Budget
Would you rather save money on your resort and spend more on experiences inside the parks?
Or would you enjoy having extra resort amenities during your downtime?
Pool Time
Many families with young children spend more time at the pool than they originally expected.
If pool days are important to your family, choosing the right resort can make a big difference.
Room Size
Will everyone be comfortable sharing one room, or would a Family Suite give everyone a little more space?
Sometimes the extra room can make naps, bedtime, and mornings much easier.
My Advice
There isn't one "best" Disney Resort for every family.
The perfect resort depends on your children's ages, your budget, your vacation style, and what matters most to your family.
That's why I spend time getting to know each family before recommending a resort. A resort that's perfect for one family might not be the right fit for another.
